Worldline chooses MyBank to be one of the first to offer SEPA compliant Online Banking e-Payments for cross border eCommerce
Worldline [Euronext:WLN], European leader in the payments and transactional services industry, introduces electronic mandate services for SEPA Direct Debits (SDD) supporting MyBank, an Online Banking ePayment (OBeP) solution for e/m/commerce. Electronic mandates are the missing link to enable payment via SEPA Direct Debit in an e-commerce context, particularly on a cross-border level. Worldline is one of the first to offer a SEPA compliant solution to process eMandate and ePayment with MyBank in the 34 European countries of the SEPA area.
Paris, Boston, Sibos 2014, 29 September 2014
In the era of borderless European payments, Worldline helps businesses and banks to build their strategies for tomorrow’s applications. Worldline will assist financial institutions and merchants across Europe in connecting to the new eMandate solution starting October 2014.
With e-SEPA, consumers can pay for their orders online through a direct debit or a credit transfer. With MyBank, Worldline provides Routing Services enabling merchants to redirect customers to their banks and validation services on the customer’s bank’s side to provide authentication.
“Electronic mandates are the missing link for offering payment via SEPA Direct Debit in an e-commerce context. MyBank Mandates will fill this gap by providing a pan-European mandate solution that can be conveniently used online. We look forward to rolling out the solution to banks and online businesses across the European Union and to being a pioneer offering this solution.” Wolf Kunisch, Head of Financial Processing & Software Licensing at Worldline
MyBank Mandates will support the electronic creation, modification and cancellation of mandates. At the same time, MyBank Mandates will also support mandates by consumers waiving their automatic “no-questions-asked” refund right. MyBank Mandates do not interfere with the statutory refund rights provided under consumer law. This will help bridge the gap between today’s situation, where no-refund direct debits still exist as niche products in several countries, and the introduction of a pan-European scheme foreseen in the coming years.
Some key facts of Worldline and SEPA:
30 million mandates
250 million SEPA Direct Debits
140 million SCT transactions
Worldline will be showcasing its MyBank opportunities at Sibos 2014, taking place September 29—October 2, 2014 at booth #G67. Meet its experts during a specific presentation about “After SEPA: MyBank new opportunities” on 30th September at 11:00h.
MyBank (www.mybank.eu) is an e-authorisation solution that enables customers to pay for their online purchases via their regular online or mobile banking environment. The solution was launched in March 2013 and is open to all authorised payment service providers (PSPs) in the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA), including, without limitation, credit institutions and payment institutions. The MyBank Directory, which lists all participating financial institutions, is hosted by SIA, a major financial services technology infrastructure provider based in Milan. MyBank is geared at supporting the initiation of SEPA payments via the internet and may at a later stage also be used for transactions in other currencies or for e-identity services. Since March 2013, MyBank has been supporting the initiation of SEPA Credit Transfers. Customers will be able to electronically create, modify and cancel mandates for SEPA Direct Debits from October 2014 on. MyBank was created by EBA CLEARING, a provider of pan-European payment infrastructure solutions, and is today owned and managed by PRETA S.A.S., a fully owned subsidiary of EBA CLEARING.
