Innovative identity solution tackles lack of trust in online reviews

 

Paris, 4 November 2014 - Worldline [Euronext:WLN], European leader in the payments and transactional services industry, today announced that its ‘Certified Customer Reviews’ solution won the 2014 SESAMES award for banking, payment and etransactions at the award ceremony held yesterday evening. The solution, available globally, tackles the lack of trust in online reviews by offering reliable analytics to merchants and consumers.

 

Online reviews are powerful tools to develop the economy – both online and offline - and can have a tremendous impact on consumers' purchasing decisions. In fact, today, 84%[1] of people search for reviews before buying and according to the French Ministry of the Economy, 44.4% of online reviews in France in 2013 were fraudulent. These fraudulent on-line reviews risk impacting reputation and business. With this solution readers can trust that a review comes from a genuine customer.

The Worldline solution validates proof of purchase and offers consumers paying with a smartphone the right to write a certified review of their purchase. The solution works using smart apps on the phone. Thanks to the latest cryptography and user authentication, the whole process is conducted with a privacy by design approach so the anonymity of the consumer is guaranteed.

 

France is the first country to introduce a national standard - AFNOR NF Z74-501- for certified online reviews. This standard lays down strong requirements to increase trust in online reviews: consumers must be identified and a proof of purchase must be made available. The Worldline solution is compliant with this standard and with all current regulations including PCI-DSS.
