Worldline supports D8 with the first ever Twitter-based TV voting system
NEW STAR 2015: The first ever Twitter-based voting system in France that enhances TV viewers' experience by creating a strong interactive link.
Worldline [Euronext: WLN], European payments and transactional services market leader, has been selected by Canal+'s D8 TV channel to develop its Twitter-based voting service as part of its NEW STAR program. This free voting system is a first in France and enables D8 to tailor its interactivity service to new viewer habits and behavior patterns.
Backed by Worldline, D8 can enhance viewers’ experience by offering a strong interactive link. For the new edition of NEW STAR, whose live prime time screening began Thursday January 22, 2015, D8 has introduced a major innovation by opening a new voting channel in addition to traditional voting by phone and cellphone texts. TV viewers can now vote directly and free of charge using their Twitter account. Twitter is the most TV-oriented social media worldwide.
This secure voting system via hashtag "#NSVote + candidate's name" provides free voting with automatic voting confirmation by return. The votes are legally valid and are verified by independent auditors, i.e. they are certified compliant with the predefined rules and totally secured by Worldline technologies. Every Twitter user can vote up to 10 times per TV program.
Thomas Levassor, D8 corporate secretary and development director, stated:
"We selected Worldline for its ability to offer innovative interactive strategies and its in-depth understanding of future TV challenges. Worldline staff met our time to market requirements in a very tight time frame."
Claude France, chief operating officer Worldline France, said: "For over 25 years, Worldline has supported media clients in the field of broadcast interactivity. Our role is to offer and develop innovative, user-friendly industry solutions to cope with changing viewer habits. The Twitter voting service reflects this goal and represents a game-changer in interactive services".
Since 2010 Worldline has developed and operated end-to-end interactivity services with viewers on behalf of many French TV channels via its broadcast "PlayOn" interactivity service. Worldline is based on a single platform capable of piloting voting services on a large number of media including audiotel, SMS+, Operator Set-Top Boxes, mobile apps, tablets, on-line TV, and now Twitter.
