From smart ticketing to open payments, this year’s Transport Ticketing Global made one thing clear, that the future of transport depends on how simple journeys feel for customers.

Transport Ticketing Global (TTG) 2026 at Olympia London brought the industry together to focus on one clear priority – making public transport easier for customers.

Across two days, operators, authorities and technology partners explored how smart ticketing, open payments and integrated systems can remove friction from journeys and create more connected mobility experiences.

As a Platinum Sponsor, Worldline was at the heart of the conversation. Live demonstrations and on-stand discussions showcased how integrated solutions across ticketing, payments and back-office systems are already helping reshape transport retail.

Worldline also contributed to the wider debate through two speaker sessions. James Bain highlighted the need for fundamental retail transformation in rail, while Paul Drummond explored how modern revenue and settlement systems can better support a customer-focused industry.

A consistent theme emerged – complexity remains the biggest barrier to adoption. Throughout the event, speakers emphasised that putting the customers first is essential, while technologies such as AI need to be embedded into long-term infrastructure planning, not treated as a short-term trend.

The message from TTG was clear. The tools already exist. The challenge – and opportunity – is to use them to design transport systems that feel simple, seamless and built around how people actually travel.
