EBAday 2022 is just around the corner: existing trends evolve, new ones emerge

01 / 05 / 2022

Understanding future trends and strategic development of the European payments landscape: that is what EBAday, one of the leading payments conferences in Europe, is all about. This year, on 31 May and 1 June, EBAday will take place again as a physical, face-to-face event in Vienna. Worldline will be present at this seventeenth edition of EBAday as a partner, hosting and attending various knowledge sessions. We are happy to be welcoming the attending delegates at our booth #28.

Vienna

During this two-day event there will be many interesting and inspiring sessions to follow. The latest trends will be discussed by the most influential people in our industry, who will share their insights and vision. I am looking forward to another great edition of EBAday and I am thrilled to see what the speakers will bring.

A wide range of topics will be covered during EBAday. From digital transformation and open finance, to CBDC and real-time payments, Request to Pay, fraud prevention and cyber security: a variety of interesting trends will be covered during numerous speeches, panel sessions and interviews. The main themes this year – that are also a focus for Worldline – will be Open Banking and Central Bank Digital Currency or CBDC. Familiar, but hot topics that are in constant development year-by-year. In addition, sessions will be presented on relatively new topics such as the metaverse and CSR.

I am pleased to represent Worldline at one of the EBAday panel sessions, named: ‘CBDC to the rescue of correspondent banking and international payments?’. This session will address questions like: Would a multiple central bank digital currency really address the pain points of international payments, such as high transaction costs, long settlement times, and lack of transparency and if so, how and by when? Together with my fellow panellists, we will be discussing possible solutions for the pain points of international payments. I invite you to attend this panel discussion, which will take place on day two, 1 June at 10:00am - 10:45am.

I really look forward to this event full of inspirational sessions, insights, and undoubtedly interesting encounters with other leaders from the sector. Every year, we see existing trends evolve and new ones entering the stage; and that’s what makes the financial payments industry so exciting. Our industry is always moving and as a financial institution it is crucial to keep up with trends and technology, and to make sure to develop innovative solutions that benefit our clients and their customers.

Just like previous editions of EBAday, Worldline’s Strategic Advisor Edward van Dooren will also be present in Vienna to attend numerous sessions and to get inspired. The insights and input from the sessions he attends will be used for a series of blogs that will be published on our own blog platform. These blogs will be published on the same day, or ultimately the day after the session took place. By reporting (almost) real-time we offer finance enthusiasts the opportunity to follow EBAday live wherever they are, without having to be physically present.

I hope to meet many of you at the event. You are more than welcome to visit us at booth 28. For those who will not be able to attend, keep an eye on our blog for all the latest updates.
