Worldline receives innovation award for mobile contactless payment acceptance
Paris, March 27, 2015 – Worldline [Euronext: WLN], European payments and transactional services market leader, won the 'PayForum Award 2015' at the Salon PayForum in Paris, for its new retail Host Point of Sale (HPE) solution, an innovation allowing users to pay with their mobile phones and retailers to accept payment via a simple mobile app.
Backed by HPE, Worldline helps to deploy the mobile apps enabling retailers to accept payment via their smartphone in total security. User procedures are extermely straight forward and efficient. To make payments, cardholders no longer have to insert their payment cards into terminals. Instead, they place their phones near the merchant's phone running the mobile app, which validates the transaction. Retailers then input the transaction value on their smartphone and, depending on the amount, customers enter their personal PIN code in their own smartphone.
This local payment acceptance solution allows the retailer's smartphone (the acceptor) to identify the virtual card and its owner (the consumer). HPE is revolutionizing contactless payment by digitizing the payment terminal in Worldline's Mobile Acceptance solution. HPE can accept any type of NFC payments including bank card, SIM-centric, HCE (Host Card Emulation) and QRCode.
HPE guarantees total transactional security via (i) protection of confidential data (i.e. no local data storage, secured communication sessions and session keys); (ii) physical protection (by a 'Secure Element' on the smartphone) and (iii) security software including local and remote tests. The payment transaction takes the form of a token allowing totally secure exchange of non-confidential data throughout the payment chain on the retailer side.
Pascal Dehaussy, Worldline Director of the Local Business Line Financial Processing & Software Licensing, said: "We are proud to have won this award, which highlights Worldline's capacity to develop the most innovative products and solutions on the payments market that help to improve consumers' shopping experience".
