Worldline implements extended Voucher Management System for Telefónica Germany

Frankfurt/Main, 13. March 2017 - Worldline [Euronext: WLN], the European market leader for payment and transaction services, has successfully extended the existing Worldline Voucher Management System (VoMS) at Telefónica Germany. The system is currently the most powerful VoMS in Europe.

Telefónica Germany had already decided on the new Worldline Voucher Management System in 2011. The scheduled delivery and the smooth integration of the system in the Telefónica network infrastructure followed in early 2012. Since then, the system has been running in highly available mode and enables all Telefónica prepaid customers to charge their phone credit reliably and comfortably from anywhere using vouchers.

After the merger of E-Plus in 2014, the number of customers rose rapidly, resulting in the largest mobile phone operator in Germany in terms of customers. Due to this strong growth, in 2015 and 2016, Telefónica commissioned an extensive series of enhancements to the existing Worldline Voucher Management System. The previous systems’ vouchers from E-Plus and Blau were also migrated to the new consolidated VoMS.

Worldline VoMS: The advantages for Telefónica Germany

The new system works with all Telefónica brands in Germany (i.a. O2, Blau, FONIC, Ortel Mobile, AY YILDIZ). Due to its multi-client capability and configuration options, the new VoMS enables the flexible definition of rules for voucher use and thus, more comfort for Telefónica customers. In this way, with the appropriate approval, customers can recharge their prepaid accounts with a voucher of another subsidiary brand and continue to use the services of Telefónica.

Further expansion steps are possible, which open up additional recharge possibilities, allowing the use of new payment methods and thus enabling further improvements to comfort as well as maintaining the provider’s competitiveness.

Thanks to state-of-the-art technology, excellent system performance and maximum scalability, the Worldline VoMS offers investment security to Telefónica Germany. The use of cost-effective Linux servers and a system architecture based on open standard software has made it possible to optimize the investment costs and the ongoing running costs.
