Worldline enables customers of Swiss health insurer Sanitas to manage their insurance claims using mobile and digital payment functionality

Zurich — 04 / 12 / 2019

Worldline [Euronext: WLN], the European market leader in payment and transaction services, has announced the roll-out of a bespoke recurring payment solution for Swiss insurance companies. The system provides insured people with a method to manage their insurance claims via the insurance’s mobile app or online portal.

La Défense, Paris, France

The Swiss medical insurance claims and payment process is complex, both in terms of financial remittance and claims settlement administration.  In an age of rapid technological change, consumers now demand speed, convenience and ease of use in every aspect of their daily lives, whether it is buying goods and services or managing their finances.

By plugging in the new payment solution by Worldline, insurances like Sanitas can make the entire process much simpler and provide the added benefit of allowing credit card payments to be made - something which has not been available previously.

Together with the Worldline payment solution, Sanitas mobile app and online portal transformed a traditionally paper-based system to a technology-driven solution, improving efficiency and firmly putting the customer’s needs at the heart of the process. Worldline’s solution will store card data in a completely secure environment to ensure smooth and simple user experience for every single interaction with the insurance. The administration of payment information within the app becomes very simple.

The ability to provide customers with a digital payment option is a response to growing demands for the insurance industry to modernize and apply conveniences found in other sectors such as the retail and hospitality markets.

Worldline shows how the company is pioneering the implementation of digital payments solutions within the insurance industry by partnering with Sanitas, one of Switzerland’s biggest and top health insurers. Worldline has been trusted by the insurance company to optimize online payment experience for its customers by allowing them to process, monitor and settle claims with credit cards and the Swiss mobile payment wallet TWINT via their smartphone.

Sanitas CEO Dr. Andreas Schönenberger: “With the new Worldline system, we are able to offer real added value for existing customers and people who want to become our customers. Customer feedback proves that the claims and payment process is much easier and faster. They particularly appreciate the automated settlement process including storing their card data for automatic recurring charges, which is an industry first in our country.”

Roger Niederer, Chief Market Officer Merchant Services of Worldline: “It was a strategic decision for us to join forces with Sanitas to offer their customers an integrated digital solution in an innovative way. In the past, payments systems were fairly limited but the introduction of a range of new digital payments technology in recent years has transformed the way customers pay and interact with financial institutions and service providers. Not only we help customers pay their insurance premiums conveniently, our digital solutions also allow better customer experience and more efficient business processes for all service providers.”
