Three members of our senior leadership team joined government officials, transport operators, consultants, and industry specialists from around the world for the event at London’s Olympia.

They shared their expertise in key note addresses and to panels exploring the transformative effects of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and technology at the two-day event, which was platinum-sponsored by Worldline. Chief Technology and Operations Officer James Bain called for a broader perspective and deeper context around the full transformative role of AI in the evolution of public transportation.

He told the panel: “AI-powered travel assistance offering tailored information and guidance, real-time updates, route optimisation and personalised recommendations based on user preferences and travel history are here now. “What’s really needed is predictive analytics to anticipate potential disruptions… and to move beyond traditional ticketing to focus on interactions, payments, movements, access and overall travel experiences.”

He said a key takeaway of AI should be that human behaviour, rather than incremental technical solutions, will drive the truly transformative value it can bring through technologies that will serve the needs of societies of the future. Imededdine Hosni, Worldline’s Head of Product for Transport and Mobility, joined a session that fast forwarded to 2035 to examine how innovation will dramatically change the adoption of technology in ticketing and payments.

The group evaluated the increasing use of Central Bank Digital Currencies, blockchain, AI and biometrics and their benefits for mobility networks and users seeking seamless multimodal travel within the next decade.

Worldline’s Global Product Director, Lucy Whitehead was part of a panel looking into the role that Mobility as a Service will play in transforming the customer experience.

She says: “It was a fascinating session that looked at how digitalisation is transforming the transit experience for customers by enabling real-time, on-demand and easily accessible information alongside seamless and convenient payment methods.

“The panel discussed the technologies and platforms driving these changes, including mobile applications and cloud-based systems. It gave everyone a lot of food for thought.”
