Worldline and Scheidt & Bachmann launch new fuel solution for Europe
The solution will help fuel retailers deliver a more comprehensive payment solution for customers at petrol stations
Paris La Défense — 25 / 01 / 2022
Worldline (Euronext: WLN), the European leader in the payments and transactional services industry, and Scheidt & Bachmann (S&B), a global mobility solution provider, have strengthened their partnership by deploying a new payment solution for fuel stations across Europe.
The solution, which combines Worldline’s Petrol & Energy Suite and S&B’s SIQMA Connect solution, is specifically tailored towards fuel retailers and will be implemented across Europe in 2022. This launch is one more step in the successful partnership between the two companies that started almost a decade ago. Responding to an increasingly digitalised payments market, the new product will provide drivers with a more seamless payment experience, allowing them to pay at the pump, carwash, instore etc.
Benefits of the solution deployed by Worldline and S&B will enable the top energy providers to enlarge, for instance, their payment means accepted and allow them to access new customers and sales channels easily. It covers the whole payment value chain, from payment acceptance to acquiring and value-added services, such as Worldline DCC (Dynamic Currency Conversion) and Worldline’s Pay & Drive wallet.
Combining the expertise of Worldline and S&B, this partnership will drive payment infrastructure development in the fuel retail and EV charging sector - in recent years fuel and energy providers have embarked on an exciting journey from commodity providers to mobility players – and it will be deployed in more thousands of petrol stations across the continent. Worldline’s Petrol & Energy Suite is the first global one stop shop dedicated to the petrol & mobility chain sector and has a dedicated team of experts available to answer fuel retailers’ needs. As its core business S&B covers already today the complete mobility chain (fuelling, EV charging, parking, public transport) on a global scale enabling an easier and convenient travelling and more seamless & homogeneous payment for customers along their mobility chain activities. Easy combination of various payment methods & loyalty relevant features and established co-operations with car manufactures, oil companies, energy providers, public transport companies and car park operators lift the payment process to the next level and paves the way for the transition of today’s petrol stations to mobility hubs in near future.
Michel Rudolf von Rohr, Global Head of Petrol & Energy at Worldline:“The motor industry is moving incredibly fast, particularly with the big push towards a more electric market taking place every day, and so we feel it’s the right moment to help fuel companies accelerate their digitalisation journey. Despite the challenges it’s an exciting time for the motor and fuel industries and we believe that Worldline and Scheidt & Bachmann together provide a strong combination of their expertise to allow fuel retailers to flourish again as part of the evolution of their business.”
“The payment process greatly adds to the overall customer shopping experience. We seek to support our customers in creating a frictionless customer experience for any type of energy source and purchases at their sites. With new and automated retail models more and more evolving in the industry, we consider a smooth and convenient payment process as key for any business. Therefore, we believe the partnership with Worldline will add value for all of our customers:” Verena Hiegemann, Product Manager Payment Systems at Scheidt & Bachmann Fuel Retail Solutions GmbH.
