In two weeks, EBAday 2024 will kick off in Lisbon. Sheri Brandon, Chief Market Officer Northern & Western Europe at Worldline Financial Services, looks ahead at this year’s topics in focus and talks you through what is next in the payments industry.

I am thrilled to kick off this blog series for EBAday 2024. The 19th edition of EBAday will take place on 18 and 19 June 2024 in Lisbon, Portugal. A variety of topics are planned be covered during EBAday, including Banking-as-a-Service, cross-border payments, open banking and Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs), ensuring a broad range of interesting trends to be discussed during the speeches, panel sessions and interviews. In anticipation of the event, we will publish a series of blogs in collaboration with leading consultancy firms about topics that will be discussed extensively during EBAday.

The industry leaders will take a deeper dive in their blogs, providing us with strategic insights and interesting perspectives. Experts from EY, Projective Group and BearingPoint will join us and discuss regulation in payments, instant payments and open banking & PSD3. We are excited to touch upon these important aspects of payments with industry leaders who have first-hand experience on impactful technologies and innovations.

We look forward to another EBAday full of inspiring sessions, insightful discussions and interesting interactions with over 1400 senior industry participants scheduled to attend. Year after year, we witness the evolution of existing trends and the emergence of new ones, keeping the payments industry fresh and dynamic.

This year, Ingo Faulhaber, Division Manager of Account Payments at Worldline, will represent us in the EBAday panel discussion: The Instant Payments (r)evolution. It will be a lively discussion that will offer useful information on the regulation and the future of instant payments. Sheri currently is the Chief Market Officer for the Northern and Western region within Worldline Financial Services and has been with the company since 2020. Sheri has been in payments her whole career and was at the base of shaping the rulebooks for Sepa payments and the cards framework. Sheri holds a BSc in computer science and is a strong believer that technology makes everything better and that this has been the big driver in shaping the payments industry to where it is today.
