Worldline brings Wero to Luxembourg commerce
Bertrange — 02 / 09 / 2026 Worldline [Euronext: WLN], a European leader in payment services and member of the European Payment Initiative (EPI), now enables Wero's market entry in Luxembourg to its merchants. They will gain immediate possibility to accept payments on their e-commerce websites, whilst financial institutions can access the infrastructure and support needed to scale Wero adoption across the market.
A new payment choice in Luxembourg
With over 58 million active users across Belgium, Germany, and France, Wero, the new European payment solution introduced by EPI, is establishing strong momentum across the continent. Luxembourg now joins this movement, offering consumers and merchants alike a simple, secure European payment choice built for modern commerce and convenient daily use. According to EPI’s 2026 Barometer on European habits in payments, Wero already benefits from a great recognition from more than a third of the Luxembourg population, offering a positive foundation to such launch.
"This is an important milestone for Luxembourg. Wero represents a genuine shift in how European payments work. Worldline enables Wero e-commerce acceptance for merchants today and helps banks and financial institutions prepare for adoption. Together, we are accelerating the rollout of Wero online payments across the Luxembourg market." says Hakan Sekulu, CEO of Worldline in Luxembourg.
For Martina Weimert, EPI CEO: “As we officially launch Wero in Luxembourg today, we are pleased to count once more on our founding shareholders as Worldline to support us from Day 1 and be able to ensure a smooth transition from Payconiq to Wero in such early days. No changes will occur for any parties, but more use cases and possibilities will come, as Luxembourg consumers will be able to pay with the same solution beyond their frontiers and merchants to receive Wero payments from consumers coming from France, Belgium or Germany. This is an additional and important step of our expansion journey!”.
E-commerce acceptance ready
Worldline delivers Wero e-commerce acceptance immediately. Automatic activation rolls out across our customer base, with seamless integration, so merchants can start accepting Wero online payments right away. The experience for consumers is frictionless: scan a QR code, authenticate, and pay. This results in faster checkouts, higher conversion rates, and fewer abandoned transactions.
“Our e-commerce sites on Batiself and Citabel now offer Wero, giving customers a trusted, fast European payment option. Worldline powers the end-to-end integration, ensuring smooth, reliable transactions for shoppers,” says Claude Wagner, CEO of CWA Group.
In-store payments will follow later on this year, thanks to Worldline's universal QR code, and available to consumers through the Wero digital wallet once launched, delivering the omnichannel solution merchants and consumers expect.
Supporting the ecosystem
Worldline also provides the infrastructure banks and financial institutions need to adopt in order to enable Wero with confidence and speed. Our modular toolkit covers everything from user authentication to fraud detection through dispute management and is designed for seamless integration with the EPI scheme. All partners - regardless of infrastructure choice - benefit from our transaction expertise, risk management capabilities, and dedicated support. The result: banks launch Wero knowing they have a trusted technology partner.
