As of October 2021, intra-regional interchange fees were revised on card-not-present consumer card transactions between the UK and the EEA.

More specifically, interchange fees were increased for UK issued cards processed at EEA merchant locations (for more information see link). Mastercard recently announced that the scope of the previous October interchange fee revision will be extended as of April 23rd, 2022. This extension implies that the interchange rates will then also be applicable for EEA-issued cards at UK merchant locations.

The interchange fee for consumer card-not-present transactions on EEA-issued cards in the UK is currently 0.20% for debit cards and 0.30% for credit cards. Due to the April update, these transactions will be charged in line with the interregional capped consumer rates of 1.15% for debit cards and 1.50% for credit cards.
