Worldline [Euronext: WLN], a global leader in payment services, now enables its New Zealand customers to seamlessly and securely accept in-person contactless payments with Tap to Pay on iPhone.

Tap to Pay on iPhone allows Worldline NZ merchants to accept all forms of contactless payments, including contactless credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, and other digital wallets, using only an iPhone and the Worldline iOS app — no additional hardware or payment terminal needed.

Using Tap to Pay on iPhone is easy, secure and private. With Tap to Pay on iPhone, at checkout, merchants will simply prompt the customer to hold their contactless payment method near the merchant’s iPhone, and the payment will be securely completed using NFC technology.

Apple’s Tap to Pay on iPhone technology uses the built-in features of iPhone to keep the business and customer data private and secure. When a payment is processed, Apple doesn’t store card numbers or transaction information on the device or on Apple servers.

Maxine Elliott, Worldline NZ’s CEO, says they are excited to be able to offer this new solution for Kiwi retailers who are looking for easier and more cost-effective options for taking payments to enhance their customer service.

“Currently, if a business needs to process card payments beyond the traditional in-store checkout, the options are quite limited,” she says.“Usually, when a customer makes an in-store purchase, you typically use a terminal at the checkout. Retailers lease these terminals and pay connection costs, which can be expensive. The terminal's software and hardware must also be regularly updated or replaced to stay compliant with evolving regulations,” she says. “Tap to Pay on iPhone, however, is easy to set up and use as you only need an iPhone, which means quick and seamless onboarding. It also allows merchants to accept payments anywhere in-store or on-the-go.”

Worldline NZ’s solution will accept all forms of contactless payments on iPhone, including contactless credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, and other digital wallets, and uses the built-in features of iPhone to keep the business and customer data private and secure. Elliott says that small merchants – especially trades people, cafés and restaurants, travel providers and even individuals who sell goods through market stalls – will find the solution improves their ability to take payments quickly and easily.

“This solution will also allow these retailers to access their sales data through the standard reporting portal available for all Worldline NZ merchants, along with our local 24-hours support service.”

Tap to Pay on iPhone enables Worldline NZ customers to use a contactless payment acceptance solution that is easy to set up and use. Merchants can unlock contactless payment acceptance within minutes through the Worldline iOS app on an iPhone XS or later, running the latest version of iOS.

SME businesses wanting to use the new solution can speak to EFTPOS Central, Polygon Payments or POSMate to get set up with the system, while enterprise clients can contact Worldline NZ directly to discuss the best integration options for their business.
