Every day, millions of Indians pay for groceries, transfer money to family, and settle bills — all without cash, all within seconds. Digital payments have quietly become the backbone of everyday commerce. But as adoption grows, so does the sophistication of those who seek to exploit it. Digital Payments Awareness Week, an annual initiative led by the Reserve Bank of India, is a nationwide effort to ensure that the pace of awareness keeps up with the pace of adoption.
This year's theme — Fraud Prevention and Safe Digital Payments — speaks to one of the most pressing challenges in India's digital economy: building not just access, but informed, confident participation. Worldline India joined this national movement as an active participant and organiser, anchoring a week-long programme of education, engagement, and community outreach under the campaign hashtag #DPAW2026.
What the week involved
Across seven days, Worldline India executed initiatives spanning internal employee education and external public awareness. A dedicated social media campaign reached audiences across platforms, translating complex fraud risks into clear, actionable guidance. A LinkedIn Live session on 13 March brought together payment security professionals to address the real and evolving threat landscape facing digital payment users today.
Internally, over 1,500 employees participated in structured awareness activities, including a live Digital Payment Safety Session attended by 116 professionals. The session addressed prevalent fraud tactics — phishing, QR code manipulation, and social engineering — and equipped participants with concrete guidance on identifying warning signs and reporting suspicious activity.
Inclusion at the centre
A defining element of this year's campaign was a purpose-driven awareness session conducted in partnership with Yash Charitable Trust, reaching neurodivergent adults with simplified, accessible content on safe digital payment practices. This reflects a broader commitment: that the benefits and protections of digital finance must extend to every segment of society, not only those already familiar with the ecosystem.
The reach
#DPAW2026 delivered strong, quantifiable success across all fronts:
- 1500 + employees engaged through internal initiatives
- 2 high-impact awareness sessions conducted (internal + community)
- 25–30 community participants empowered through inclusive outreach
- 7,000+ social media impressions driving awareness at scale
- 25–30% engagement rate—well above industry benchmarks
- Consistent audience reach with high-quality interactions per post
Why this matters
Safe digital payments are not solely a technology concern. They depend on aware, informed users who know what to look for and what to do. Worldline India remains committed to that education — through campaigns like this, and throughout the year.
