Bharat Connect

Bharat Connect is an interoperable ecosystem by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for bill payment that is accessible, ‘anytime, anywhere’ to customers across India. Quick integration for hosting a comprehensive range of necessary and frequently used bill payment and recharge services. The National Payments Corporation of India (NCPI) has been authorised by the RBI as the Bharat Connect Central Unit (BCCU ) in Bharat Connect. It has four key participants - Billers, Agents and two regulated participants, BCCU and BCOU.

Bharat Connect Central Unit (BCCU )

Authorized by RBI to operate the Bharat Connect and set necessary operational, technical and business standards for the entire ecosystem. The entity also undertakes clearing and settlement activities.

Bharat Connect Operating Unit (BCOU)

Entities authorized by RBI to on-board Billers and Agent institutions, to conduct bill payment and aggregation in Bharat Connect.

Billers

Entities that have recurring collections from customers. They are on-boarded and participate in the Bharat Connect through a Biller Bharat connect Central Unit (BCCU).

Agent Institutions

Service providers that enable bill payment, collection and aggregation for customers. They connect in the Bharat Connect through a Customer Bharat Connect Central Unit (BCOU).
