Sibos 2025: exploring the next frontiers of global finance

22 / 09 / 2025

With just one week to go until Sibos 2025, the financial services industry is gearing up for one of the most influential gatherings of the year. From 29 September to 2 October, more than 10,000 participants will come together in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, to exchange expertise, challenge ideas and shape the future of global finance. This year’s theme, “The next frontiers of global finance,” could not be more timely. With the financial system evolving at a record pace, this year’s event ensures plentiful, vigorous discussions in Germany’s financial centre.

Frankfurt landscape

In this blog, Sheri Brandon, Global Head of New Business, Financial Services at Worldline envisages Sibos as the perfect opportunity to engage with our peers, share our vision and demonstrate how we are helping customers navigate this rapidly changing environment.

Spotlight on payments modernisationInstant payments are transforming how money moves across the globe, while the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA) is redefining how financial resilience is safeguarded in the digital era. Together, these forces are reshaping the payments landscape, challenging financial institutions to balance regulatory compliance with the delivery of seamless and secure customer experiences. At Sibos, we will highlight our expertise in areas such as instant payments, Verification of Payee, DORA, multi-currency payments and the ISO 20022 migration for corporates – all essential building blocks for the payments landscape of tomorrow.

Leveraging technology for non-negotiable resilience

With DORA in effect since 17 January  2025, financial institutions must embed resilience into strategy, operations and supplier governance. Evolving threats demand equally advanced detection and mitigation technologies. Senior leaders should demand real-time ICT risk monitoring, scenario-based drills and strict oversight of critical vendors to ensure continuous, trusted payment services. As the sector moves towards a global convergence around operational resilience standards, we look forward to exchanging on hyper-resilience strategies for a safer financial ecosystem.

Towards frictionless global paymentsCross-border transactions remain a critical challenge in finance. With the G20 roadmap and ISO 20022 migration paving the way, the focus is on building interoperability that makes global payments faster, cheaper and more transparent. At Sibos, we look forward to exploring how collective efforts can overcome fragmentation and accelerate progress in this vital space.
