In the fast-changing world of electric heavy-duty transport, Milence is a pioneer. Formed in July 2022 as a joint venture by Daimler Truck, the TRATON GROUP, and the Volvo Group, Milence aims to create a fossil-free future for road transport. Milence aims to build and operate 1,700 high-power public charging points across Europe by 2027, facilitating the transition to zero-emission heavy-duty vehicles. A crucial aspect of this mission is providing a reliable and flexible payment system for drivers. At Worldline, we’re proud to support Milence in this effort and help them take another step towards a fossil-free future.

Milence’s public charging network is set to be one of the largest in Europe, and as such, needed to support multiple payment methods to accommodate the diverse preferences of truck drivers and fleet operators across countries—whether paying via a mobile app, an eMSP card, or directly at a charging station. Milence’s users had to trust that transactions would be fast, secure, and hassle-free. Operating across Europe also require a payment provider capable of managing different currencies, regulatory requirements, and cross-border complexities, all while enhancing the user experience with transparency, reliability, and convenience.

At Worldline, we tackled these challenges by leveraging our expertise in commercial acquiring to meet Milence’s need for processing a wide range of payment methods across Europe. Our collaboration makes Milence’s charging hubs accessible to all heavy-duty electric vehicles, regardless of brand or payment preference.

Through our commercial acquiring services, Milence offers two primary payment options:

App: Payments are easily made through the Milence app, designed for convenience. It lets drivers manage charging sessions and payments with minimal effort, ensuring a smooth experience.

Terminals: For users preferring direct payments by bank card, Worldline supports this option at payment terminals, currently available at the Milence Hubs in the Port of Antwerp-Bruges and Venlo. This is ideal for spontaneous or infrequent users without an account or app.

Our collaboration with Milence brings several significant advantages to both them and the truck drivers:

  • Flexible payment options: Worldline’s acquiring solution supports international and local payment methods, including wallets and crypto, with over 80 accepted currencies. This ensures Milence can offer drivers a range of payment options, whether they’re regular users or one-time visitors.

  • Pan-European reach: With the ability to handle transactions across multiple European countries, currencies, and regulations, we ensured Milence can smoothly operate its growing network. Acquiring payouts are available in 15 currencies.

  • Security and compliance: Worldline’s solutions meet the highest security standards and fully comply with European regulations, ensuring peace of mind for Milence and its users.
"I am incredibly proud and delighted to support Milence, one of the fastest-growing CPOs in Europe's EV Charging sector for heavy-duty vehicles.
